Frank Wrathall takes overall second


Frank Wrathall has been voted 2nd in the British Touring Car Championship Driver of the Year Poll despite the first half of Team Dynojet’s season not going to plan due to teething issues with the NGTC – spec Toyota Avensis. With just 3 classified finishes from 15 it looked like the former Ginetta Champion was not going to get the opportunity to showcase his talent.

However, with a determined and focused team working on modifications to the new spec car through the summer break, the second half of the season kick started with an impressive fourth place finish at Snetterton, which recorded the best result for a NGTC-spec car at the time.

Finding himself behind the wheel of a competitive car Wrathall battled at Knockhill to secure, not one but two, third place finishes and provided the first podium finishes for any NGTC- spec car. The momentum flowed into Rockingham where Frank produced a third and second finish giving him four successive podium finishes, matched only by one other driver.

Frank Wrathall was marked as a Champion of the Future after showing not only talent but true grit in the remaining races of the season by taking the fight to the more experienced BTCC drivers. "It’s amazing what we have achieved this year, both myself as a driver and together as a team. We took a totally new and untested car and emerged as genuine front runners. Getting recognition through this award tops off a great year” was how Wrathall summed up the Dynojet 2011 season.

2012 is going to be a promising year for Frank Wrathall and Team Dynojet who have the advantage of a season running a developed NGTC car over the big teams who will be introducing their new spec cars to the challenge, Frank added: “With the knowledge we have gained, we are in a great position to hit the ground running and be challenging for race wins from the start of 2012"
